Focus on the Family magazine is a Christian organizational magazine. They provide inspiration and resources for parents and families as well as insights into the work of the ministry. They strive to represent diverse ethnic backgrounds and people of all shapes and sizes through the magazine art.
Story
This full spread article contains two pages with separate but related themes. The left page is ideas of how to prepare for Resurrection Day (Easter) with activities for Holy Week (week leading up to Easter) and the right page is about ideas for how to celebrate the day of Resurrection Day.
Brief
I was tasked to connect the two pages via typography that says, “HOLY WEEK & RESURRECTION DAY” with each of the phrases on their respective pages. Alongside the type, they wanted to have small little scenes of some of the activities mentioned in the article. I was also given a specific color palette to be used for this illustration and had to avoid commercial Easter items (Easter bunny, Easter eggs, etc) since these pages are focused on the religious aspects of these holidays.
