The War Cry is the official national publication of The Salvation Army in the United States. It is a monthly magazine devoted to sharing the love of God without discrimination and representing The Salvation Army’s mission of serving human need.
Story
The Article is entitled, ‘Once and for All: Easter Promises for You’ and is about Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Brief
The illustration was used as a both a cover and a full spread illustration to accompany the article. They did not have any specific concept in mind, just that the National Commander likes things more bright and colorful so we focused on the quote, “Christ’s death and resurrection were also a combined promise – a promise of fellowship with God Himself.” For the illustration, I was going for a more symbolical interpretation. I wanted to convey the feeling of being rescued and the impact of Christ’s death and resurrection as a promise of fellowship with God and the immense joy of how it would feel being saved. And with Christ’s guidance, we are able to find the light in the darkness.
