BRIEF
The art direction for the spreads is that they wanted to see a mixture of what is actually happening, such as painted cardboard boxes, tape etc., and what the children “see” through their imaginations. For the character design, they envisioned a different child and caretaker(parent, grandparent, etc.) for each spread to show people with diverse backgrounds. For the full spreads, they selected images from my portfolio where they want a lot of detailed compositions. For spreads with vignettes, they wanted organic borders where illustrations would look more seamless. I was also given a rough idea of what they wanted me to illustrate for each spread.

They originally had some playful illustrations in mind but in the end they wanted something simpler for visual spacing so we ended up with a colored sky gradation.
