The little ladybird Mario and the lively sparrow Toni are inseparable friends. They live happily and contentedly with their parents on the edge of a stream next to a meadow of flowers. One fine morning the little ladybird wakes up in a good mood. What he doesn’t yet know is that an exciting adventure awaits him and his friend Toni.

BRIEF
Client wanted the illustrations to be set in a forest with a touch of whimsy and a lot of fun little details. I was given some detailed, playful and imaginative ideas to include in each spread as well, such as “Little ladybug’s nursery, you can see his bed, his bedside table with bedside lamp, a small cupboard for his clothes, toys on the floor such as Matchbox cars, a teddy bear, piles of books, crayons, next to his bed are his slippers; little ladybug’s family lives in a tree/tree trunk that has windows and doors, like a house”. The story is also originally German and was only translated in english for me to understand.
